CLEAN DRINKING WATER TO SONSHI VILLAGERS


Goa government has submitted before the High Court that to supply clean drinking water to the mining affected families at Sonshi village, stainless steel water tankers have been deployed. The state government also contended that 5 tanks with capacity of 5 thousand liters and 20 tanks with capacity of 500 liters are installed to cater the need of mining affected families in Sonshi. After hearing the High Court has directed to find out if any other village like Sonshi requires portable drinking water.
During hearing on a petition filed by NGO Goa Foundation on Wednesday, the High Court slammed Goa government for not supplying adequate clean drinking water to the mining affected families at Sonshi village.

The High Court has also directed respondent mining companies to submit affidavit about their contribution for welfare of mining affected families at Sonshi. The High Court has adjourned the hearing for 3 weeks.
